Prior to completing my computer science degree, I studied art, which helped me build the foundation for my interest in user interface design. When I build websites, I am looking to bring a brand’s mission to life by consistently looking at bringing typography, colors, and responsive design together in a harmonious way that prioritizes an intuitive user experience.
At Make School I learned programming best practices, algorithm analysis and design, and teamwork through dozens of assigned and personal projects. One term, I built a Tweet generator made using all from scratch data structures including a Markov Chain. The most impactful class I took was on data visualizations, where I learned how to take data from several APIs and display them beautifully on a dashboard using css and D3.js. One of my favorite projects I built was an audio visualization that used Javascript and Canvas to visualize audio frequencies by creating lines that update in real time with the audio playback.
When designing the websites I create, I first start by creating a wireframe. Once the wireframe is approved, I then move on to a high fidelity mockup of the website. I adapt quickly to feedback and make multiple versions of graphics or mockups to test out different color schemes, typography, placements, etc.
